Former Google autonomous driving subsidiary Waymo is testing real unmanned on the road, which is not sitting behind the wheel of a car. Waymo is testing unmanned driving in the Chandler area of Arizona, State, testing is not limited to one or two lines. Waymo tried to take the lead to achieve L4-level autopilot, which meant that its cars could be fully automated in pre-set areas, all of which were carefully mapped and tested. The company plans to extend the test to the entire Phoenix, but does not give a timetable. Rivals acknowledge that Google is still technologically advanced, although sceptics question whether artificial intelligence technology has been perfected enough to cope with the many unforeseen conditions that may occur on the road.
