Solidot | Japanese murderer seeks victims via Twitter

Tokyo police arrested 27-year-old Whitehead Longhao in Tuesday Police found eight women and nine mutilated pieces in his apartment. Police initially investigated the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman who posted a message on Twitter saying she was looking for someone to commit suicide with her. After her disappearance, her brother logged on to her Twitter account and found that she had been in contact with Whitehead Longhao, while surveillance footage from nearby railway stations showed that Whitehead Longhao was walking with the missing woman. Appalling crimes are rare in Japan, and Japan is one of the lowest murder rates in the world. Japan’s crime rate has been steadily declining in recent years, and police have been accused of too much investigation into minor violations because they have nothing to do. Whitehead Longhao admits he murdered the nine people, all of whom were known for communicating through Twitter, saying that murder was “for money and indecency”.
