EA publishes press release announced will buy game studio Respawn Entertainment. The transaction will amount to $455 million. Respawn was created by the Infinity Ward Studios and the co-founder of the Call of Duty series, and in 2010 the two sides reached a long-term partnership, and EA even recently authorized the “Star Wars” game to respawn development. According to Kotaku’s report ,ea’s acquisition may have been forced, as the Korean game issuer Nexon issued a takeover offer for the respawn price of over $400 million. If Nexon buys respawn, the future cooperation between the two sides will surely change. EA exercised its contractual right to match the quote and ultimately bid higher than Nexon.
